In the old time, animation were made naturally from scratch which means by drawing every single movement. It takes time, a very, very long time to finish the whole project of the animation. But in this digital era, animation is mostly made by using the computer hardware and software to make the animation process easier, faster, and executable.

Animation is so unique! It’s all about human’s imagination and creativeness which gives the animation maker freedom to create anything. On the top of that, animation is being known among kids and teenagers which creating a stereotype. Most of people think that animation is for kids, not for those adult who loves to watch war movies or hard-thinking movies (non-animation). ‘Aren’t you too old for that show?’ You might heard this when you watch kids show such as Adventure Time, Tom & Jerry, Doraemon, etc. or even say that statement to your friend. Let me tell you, it’s not wrong for an adult to watch kids’ shows or animation films.
Animation is full of art

Yes, anyone in this world might have all the tools to create any kind of animation. But do you know how hard it is to create amazing and neat looking kind of animation? I bet not everyone has ability to do that.
Beyond the visuals, animation is art for the way it blends visual creativity with story. No medium such animation could tell a tale more vividly and gorgeously than a work of animation. (animation.io9.com)
Not every animation story tells about kids-things

I am sure you have known The Simpson or Family Guy. For those who does not know about those shows might have a perception that those shows are for kids. Why? Because it’s an animated-show! They thought it was similar with Tom & Jerry, Ben 10, or Inspector Gadget while those shows are intentionally made for 18+ viewers. So, if you are a parents out there, viewer discretion is advised. Do you think an 18+ cartoon is still for your 10 year old kids ? Think twice.
Not forgetting anime (Japanese animation), most of their animation stories are serious, I bet that kids age 7-10 won’t understand the storyline. Take ‘The Girl Who Leapt through Time’ for example, the story is about a girl who has an ability to travel through time to her advantage. Okay, it sounds flat, but the whole story on this animated movie is actually mind-blowing. It needs a hard-thinking watcher to understand the movie. On the top of that, most of anime creator in Japan choose adult or teenager as their target audience based on the story that they are made and it turns out as good as real-life movie.
Animation is a magnificent medium that allows us to be creative and it has no rules. It is limitless. It’s just as good as live-action and somehow, even much better.
"Animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive. This facility makes it the most versatile and explicit means of communication yet devised for quick mass appreciation." -Walt Disney
