We all spend plenty of time on YouTube watching videos or listening to music every day, but what do we know about this website? What is the story behind one of the world’s successful media platforms?
But seriously, how big and powerful YouTube is? Well, more video content is uploaded to YouTube in 60 days that the three major U.S. Television networks created in 60 years. That’s how powerful YouTube is.
Although there are more social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, but when it comes to the number of people visiting the website daily YouTube is more popular than the rest of the social media sites.

In the ten years since its launch (2005), YouTube has become one of the top websites of all time to consume, create and share music, video and movies and it’s believed that YouTube potentially worth $40 billion.
Music songs and videos
First of all, YouTube has revolutionized the traditional TV broadcasting system and music industry to a whole new level. According to Nielsen, TV viewership among millennial dropped by nearly 11% within the last four months alone. It would appear that a choice is being made and traditional TV is quite simply losing viewers to digital video (www.adweek.com).
Convenience and cost is one of the major advantages of YouTube that attracts millions of people every day and make them come back to the website over and over again. Unlike the traditional TV broadcasting where the TV program airs at a certain time of the day, YouTube gives you freedom of choice, you decide what to watch, subscribe to your favorite channels and personalize it to your own taste.
The access to millions of famous music songs and videos from all around the world at your fingerprint completely for free makes YouTube №1 search engine for music songs and videos. It has also become №1 listening platform for music fans.
YouTube’s power and its role in music industry is so big that there is an annual “YouTube Music Awards”. Music artists and singers will be given awards, based on their growth in subscribers, views and engagements over the period of one year on YouTube.

Video blogs and YouTube channels
Many music artists and video bloggers have built their lifetime careers though YouTube and earned their first millions simply by creating their own contents and sharing them on the website.
One of the brightest examples of well-established stars who started their career on YouTube is Michelle Phan, an American make-up demonstrator and YouTube video blogger.

In 2007, Michelle was a waitress in a local restaurant, she was rejected and wasn’t able to get a job at beauty counter because she didn't have sales experience.
So she started to share her passion on YouTube by posting videos on how to do your make up. Currently, she has over 7.5 million subscribers, including me, on YouTube; her videos have been viewed more than a billion time; she has her L’Oreal line and own media network.
Not only that, she founded new e-commerce beauty startup called Ipsy (ipsy.com) and published a book called “Michelle Phan: Your life guide to beauty style and success Online and Off”.
Admit it, YouTube that turned a broke waitress to $84 million startup founder is definitely way more powerful than we think it is.
How has youTube become so powerful?

Well, basically we are aware that YouTube is very successful social media site, but here’s the main question: How has it become so powerful?
Before YouTube came along, having your video channel and hosting videos was a complicated and expensive process. You often were required to set up your own media server, install media player softwares, and pay money in order to stream your videos each time.
But YouTube provided with user-friendly and free of charge platform for everyone who would like to make videos and share with other people. Proving a platform with easier user experience is one of the main features of YouTube that made the website so popular and powerful.
However, the main power of YouTube has always been and will be an interaction. Viewers and fans can interact with creators directly by subscribing to their channels and leaving comments on their videos. Youtube prioritizes the interactivity and engagement above all the other aspects of the website.
Last, but certainly not the least, YouTube offers a platform where you can earn money by doing the things you love to do. You could create videos that will appeal to others and share your passion whether it’s cooking or dancing. The more people watch your videos and like them, the more money you will make.
All in all, whether you’re a viewer who visits YouTube to find entertaining content, or a creator who makes sustainable revenue on the website, you know YouTube is a powerful space that allows us to create content , listen to music, watch videos and movies, share information and learn how-to-do nearly everything.
